A Sailboat Model Is An Awesome Nautical Home Decor
I've always liked sailboats and anything that is associated with them. They've been my passion every since I used to be a youngster.
The first model sailboats I had were large and vibrant. They weren't actually made after a specific boat, neither did they preserve a coherent size. They were intended to be toys and entertain me, not a real representation of a boat. Those model sailboats were made of plastic that was proof against bad treatment. The sails were produced of the same kind of low cost plastic material that supermarket bags are produced of, so that they could be easily changed if damaged. And boy, did I tear mine a lot.
As I grew up, I began to gather more realistic design sailboats, which were based on the sailboats I saw in the sea which was close to where I lived. As opposed to my first model sailboats, these sailboats had a size which they respected, in order to keep the proportions of a genuine sailboat. These sailboats weren't they kind you needed to put together; rather, they came already put together and all set to play. I realized later that some of these weren't intended to be put on water. Instead they came with a base and were intended to be placed on display. This was a bizarre idea to me at the time, which led to a few of those model sailboats sinking and being lost inside the bottom of the bay.
I ultimately graduated from these model sailboats to the type that I had to put together and color by myself. They were a blast, and I had a lot of fun with them. I began with basic ones and worked my way up to extremely complicated model sailboats that incorporated small motors as well as some welding.
I guess I must not have been that poor at the passion, as my father liked one of them so much, he put it on display on top of our fireplace. I was so pleased with it, and I never forgot to casually mention it whenever somebody came to visit. It wasn't until then that I understood why many model sailboats were designed for display, and not for placing them in the water.
My biggest success was when I managed to build one that was distant controlled. I guess it was the very first sailboat during my adult life in which I enjoyed more having fun with, than putting together.
I don't assemble model sailboats anymore. I lastly found a much more high-priced passion. I bought myself a real sailboat, which takes considerably more of my time and funds that my model sailboats ever did.
